How it all started

Before online dating was a thing, back in 2000, we met online on ICQ (uh oh!). We were both studying in Montreal, Canada at the time. Laurie was in Dentistry at McGill University, while Nael was at Concordia studying finance. After chatting it up online and making each other laugh with back and forth banter, we met in person the very next day. That was the first of many days and years together.

Five years later, when we couldn’t agree whether we would get married in Montreal or in Lebanon, in the Catholic Church or in the Greek Orthodox Church, and countless other differences in opinion, we opted to part ways and to each do our own thing on our own terms.

However, being on different parts of the planet did not keep us apart, even if we were not in a relationship together. We always kept in touch, chatted like old friends on the phone and even met up on more than one occasion.

“Come see me in Dubai Laurie”. “Okay!”

“You don’t have plans for your vacation? Come to Lebanon”. “Okay, sure!”

And so the story went until FINALLY Nael came to New York in February 2020. Staying true to the promise he had made 10 years prior to come visit Laurie. One visit is all it took to rekindle an old flame that never faded and plan our future together, twenty years later. It is about time! Actually, it is right on time.

Although we cannot all be physically together given the current times, we would be thrilled and honored to have you join us on our special day via Zoom. Your presence will certainly make our day complete and full. We look forward to sharing it with you.
